Congratulations to the Juggernauts, the team representing (the greater) Tampa Bay (area) at the Battle of the Cities this past weekend in Orlando. Not only did they take home the coveted Presume Trophy (first place), beating out teams from Orlando, Tallahassee, and Nashville, they also won the spirit award (or something, I’m a little vague on the title) for showing the most enthusiasm, not just for their own team, but for all the competitors. Great job!

Here I just said that Tampa needed a weekly dance beyond Sunday nights at the Grotto, and now we’re getting two. Unfortunately they’re both on Thursday.
So, starting this Thursday, Feb. 1, there will be a weekly swing dance at the grotto.
Lounge Cat will be playing (hooray for live music) and they claim to have an Excellent DJ. I don’t doubt it. It all starts at 7:00pm. Ladies get in for $4, guys pay a little more at $6.

We just heard there will be a new weekly swing night in the city of Tampa starting Thursday, February 1st, at Centro Asturiano. Dance lesson from 7-8, dancing from 8-midnight, music by DJ Paul Mallett.
This should be a good time, and, since Tampa has been missing a regular non-Sunday-night-at-the-grotto dance, we hope everyone will come out to see what’s happening!
